April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and our community will gather for the 3rd Annual Seaside Stride Beach Trek in Cape Canaveral. Hosted by I Am A Freedom Fighter, this inspiring event raises awareness and funds to combat sexual exploitation and human trafficking. Ocean to River Properties is proud to be the main sponsor of this local event. With statistics showing that one in three girls and one in four boys experience sexual assault by someone they know and trust, the mission behind this event is both urgent and deeply meaningful: to bring education, prevention, and real solutions to our communities.

 Event Details

• Location: Fish Lips Waterfront Bar & Grill, 610 Glen Cheek Dr, Cape Canaveral.

• Date: April 11, 2026

• Start Times:

  • 20-Mile Trek – 5:00 AM

  • 10-Mile Trek – 8:00 AM

This is not a race, but a community beach trek designed to gather outdoor enthusiasts who want to “Rise Together” in support of freedom and awareness. Participants will walk an out-and-back course along the shoreline, starting and ending at Fish Lips. The 20-mile option includes multiple turnaround points between the Hampton Inn and Jetty Park.

Organizers encourage participants to physically prepare in advance, as both distances are endurance treks. While individual fundraising is optional, participants are encouraged to share their training journey and invite friends and family to support the cause.

Registration includes:

• An event t-shirt and swag bag

• Light breakfast snacks before the trek

• One complimentary drink at the post-trek celebration

Participants are responsible for bringing their own snacks and hydration during the walk. After the event, attendees are encouraged to stay for lunch and support the local sponsor.

A recent industry outlook from Homes.com (Caroline Broderick & Trevor Fraser, February 19, 2026) highlights a year of cautious optimism for housing in 2026. While new construction is expected to remain slow due to tariffs, labor challenges, and ongoing policy uncertainty, remodeling is projected to grow as many homeowners choose to stay put and invest in their current homes. With mortgage rates expected to remain above 6% through 2026, many homeowners locked into lower interest rates are tapping into their home equity instead of moving. Industry forecasts suggest:

• Remodeling growth of nearly 3% in 2026, led by kitchen and bath upgrades.

• New construction growth of just 1%, with multifamily starts expected to decline.

• A current national housing shortage of 1.2 million homes, projected to gradually ease by 2030.

• Affordability may improve modestly, as incomes are expected to grow nearly 4%, outpacing home price increases.

Overall, while builders continue to face headwinds, homeowners with equity are driving activity in the market. For buyers, gradual improvements in affordability and slowing price growth could create more balanced conditions ahead.
